Declare conflict as I know Jim Riordan from a previous job. He is and will always be road transport focused. They run a substantial trucking fleet after all. He is a grain trader first and foremost, and knows the industry like the back of his hand. If it was in his interest to shift grain by train, I imagine he would in a heartbeat. With the amount of containerised grain they shift it wouldn't surprise me if they do at times already.A very revealing report in Stock and Land this morning:I wonder if Mr Riordan would mind paying some dollars per TKM to help fund those road upgrades?

And his trucking movements are being subsidised and he is loving it.
This article is a good one and highlights just what a mess the rail network is under the current administration.
Not sure there's any surprises in there for any of us on this forum. The rail network is in a sad state, and no surprise road is doing more of the work than it has in previous years. I do note in the article that the operators have trains down at present due to failures or maintenance. Probably points to PN, but they are as we all know in the business to make money, so don't think that would be completely accurate, more like the grain companies dont need the amount of grain shifted by rail at present.
