    The Australian Newspaper today has an article on page 9 on above, with an, albeit small, map of same.

    There are plenty of plans for
    * Rail Lines
    * Pipe Lines (oil and gas)
    * Ports.

    One BRI proposal is a China to Myanmar corridor for Rail/Road/Oil/Gas.

    Connects:
    * Kunming in China.
    * Muse in Myanmar on China border.
    * Mandalay 2nd city in Myanmar.
    * Naypyidaw capital city.
    * Kyaukphyu deepwater port

    The new rail line would be SG with a large loading gauge.
    Existing MY railways are metre gauge with a small loading gauge.

    Thanks for the info.
    I expect this Belt and Road project to move ahead rapidly now that the military is back in full control.
    The regime gets the political and economic support they need to become a "mini China" and in return China gets secure and direct access to the Indian Ocean.
    A good deal for both sides.

    I expect this Belt and Road project to move ahead rapidly now that the military is back in full control.

    The previous military gummint which lasted about 40 years, more or less doubled the size of the metre gauge railway network network. They are pretty rail friendly.

    There is as yet no SG line proposed to the former capital and largest city of Rangoon.

    The deep water port at Kyaukphyu does not seem as yet to be served by the Metre Gauge network, so this would presumably be added later.
