Not again. That is the second derailment in the last 12 months in southern NSW involving SCT.

Good the crew are ok.

That is two locos now out of action for a period with SCT already suffering from loco shortages.

How disappointing for SCT and the impact on network users seeing the main closed for days now.

One loco standing looks like SCT005. What is the other loco ?

Well on the plus side, it's come off in a relatively easy spot to get cranes in to.

Was this train heading North or South?

Rumours are flying that SRHC SG locos are about to head to Bomen to salvage wagons and take them back to Barnawartha...

Reliable sources tell me that this was caused by MB9  going  through the catch points at Bomen.

Time for those seatbelts on locos maybe? Razz

If they have indeed gone past BN18 and out through the catchpoints, it's likely to be a painful lesson they won't soon forget...Glad they're around to actually receive the bung though.

I thought we agreed to disagree on seatbelts! Wink

BN18 is sneakily hidden behind the awning of Bomen station so can be hard to spot especially if you're not overly familiar with heading into Bomen loop through the points for the siding instead of through the 80 km/hr crossover. From what I've heard there was some time pressure on the crew. They had just changed crews at Wagga and they were heading in behind another train already in Bomen loop for a tight cross with the XPT.

What does the time pressure mean in the context of a train crew?

Train control putting pressure on to get somewhere by a certain time or "as quickly as possible". Some drivers find it hard to ignore.

I hope that was not a contributing factor if it was then that is quite unfair.

That gave me a good excuse to go video the units to recover the freight cars involved. I couldn't resist videoing the heritage units heading up to recover them and back.

Glad the drivers were OK, that clean up will take some time to complete.

Great work Josh and thanks for sharing.

I wonder why SCT would haul the wagons back to Wodonga area when they could be stored in Wagga Yard or even Albury?
