Notwithstanding Boris' future, I was pleased to hear about the Conservative governments funding allocation to reinstating closed lines upon application, so I hope that initiative remains under the new leader.

I cannot understand why the need for HSR in England. Trains over there already travel at up to 125MPH and the tracks could cope with higher speeds with some additional work without duplicating the network.
