The Coalition is now ahead of Labor on Sportsbet:Does not surprize me at all after this last week, now, I would consider myself a Labor voter if I did vote, but I'm afraid Albanese is not up to the task of leading the nation, he seems very unsure of himself, this is why I think the public will give Morrison another term (despite his mistakes in the past).

Meanwhile Albo has scotched rumours that he is going to give Kevin Rudd the ambassadorship to the United States if he wins office... although Bill Shorten seemed to think that the rumour was correct when asked about it.

Good point.Errr, that would primarily be the Queensland State Government's fault, specifically, that of Anna Bligh (ALP). It was her government that allowed the Gladstone LNG export terminal to be built, and her government that took the decision that not only did they need to take a major royalty for exported gas, they didn't even need to insist guarantee of domestic supply ahead of export trade and profit.

I seem to recall they did go for a domestic reservation in WA but no other Australian state.

Good point.Bad point, actually very bad and poorly researched.
1) States ste and collect royalities and Aaron comments explains more on the state ALP F-up there.
2) Qatar O&G is state owned, so they are not royalities as such, rather more profits
3) Qatar does not levy income, corporate and many other taxes, charges and levies. So the O&G industry is basically bankrolling the govt
4) Qatar O&G is also a very mature industry, Qld and NT gas plants are still fairly new.

1) Govts (all) loose elections, oppositions do not win them (ie 2007 & 2013).
2) Unpopular govts remain in power if Oppositions prove themselves less popular (ie 2019)
Another rule of thumb
When you see stickers, "don't blame me I voted X".
Well when X actually gets in power and they F'up, you can then blame him, he told you too (yes they are nearly always a he, women are not that stupid to put stickers like that on their car)

If the lnp manage to form a majority government, it’s a reflection on the members of said society. A few choice words come to mind.
Given the shenanigans of the NSW branch recently, a rebranding may be required. The MPP, Morrison Pentecostal party is a suggestion.

I don't know why everyone is wringing their hands about the Chinese deal with the Solomons, The United States has 120+ foreign bases and the Chinese are just doing what they did in the fifties and sixties.
America is not an ascendant military power, China is. What are we going to do, try telling them they can't do what the United States did last century because we feel threatened by it? We could stop importing and exporting things to China but that's about it.

News around is that there is not enough support going for both parties to form a majority government, of course with so much time to go this probably will change, but if it does not change, we could be looking at a hung parliament. then it will be trying to get the independents to do horse trading with either side.

Watched the debate last night and IMHO Albo won that debate for the following observations
1. The questions were more left leaning questions than scomo would have liked suggesting the LMP were not ready for those questions but also the thinking in Australia is not linked to all the issues the LNP would like
2. Scomo's choice of words about Ethan the child with a disability were poor.
3. Integrity is a major issue with government and the LNP have tried to avoid the ICAC that will backfire
4. Albo is more sincere but Scomo is great with numbers and facts
Albo is right when he says we need to shape the future. If you consider what we have been provided by the last 10 years of LNP no real ground breaking projects that have delivered future value. It does fall to the ALP to deliver the big changes in our world.
