I dunno why but the S302 is my most favourite diesel loco in the world. The first time i saw it for real was when i went to Pakenham. I saw what looked like an A or S class.
My Dad's Girlfriend and I left the platform and went down the road parallel to the tracks, We crossed the road and went over to the loco. It was the S302. I was so overjoyed i actually hugged the front of the train!
I couldn't believe it when i found out it was sold to this "El Zorro!" I was double shocked when i saw a pic of it with West coast Railway livery.
But that doesn't matter! Because it's my FAVE loco! The thing is that i'm near it.....well, sorta. My Dad's house is in Murrumbeena, the rail line runs behind our house. We get Freight trains, V/line and Connex.
I wish i had this loco in my possession. Kinda Stupid but thats my life long dream.
I'm gonna write a customer feedback or Email thing to tell El Zorro not to Scrap the S302.
Could someone please give me the El Zorro Website, or something that could help me. i would be forever grateful.
Scrap S302 not in my life time I hope
It would have to be one of the best S class locos
Before WCR sold it to V/line it had more than $200,000 work done on it with a new transom fitted by EDI rail at Newport Workshops
as well as a Reco 645c engine built by EDI and fitted at Ballarat East by WCR witch was one of the last jobs we done before being taken over by EDI Rail. When it was purchased by V/Line it went back to Newport and had more cab modifications an a repaint. At the moment we have S306/307 at Ballarat East and we are repairing them to a similar Standard. So I think that at the moment S302 would be worth quite a bit!
