A new 'tram link along Dynon Road' was a long term option to be protected under the VTP.

Along with this was the additional rail from Blackburn to Ringwood, Mernda, Aurora, Donnybrook/Beveridge elect ...

Hate to break it to everyone, but a railway to line to Knox is virtually pointless!

Why?

Cost: underground sections? station rebuild? not even going to attempt to estimate it.

Use: Current resident ...

I was talking about my option still having cons, and yes it does, as Hastings it hard to navigate. But at the same time, the ferry comes only a few times a day! So its not really that bad of an inconv ...

I wouldn't say to run it as a shuttle though..

The Rowville line would be great for servicing all those inner stations, especially once MM2 is done, whilst the Frankston line runs express from Caul ...

Okay, admittedly I did not look properly before saying all of that.

Yes, Hastings station is a fair distance from the bay. And it would be hard for a ferry to exit the Hastings Channel. Stony Point i ...

Yes but if there is a stop at Huntingdale, everyone will interchange there.

Why is that bad?

Nothing, but if we have an oppurtunity to rebuild an important/enhance/redevelop Oakleigh, which is  ...

If you were to extend the wires, why Baxter? People from the actual centres with people would have to change trains to get to their nearest CBD. Send the sparks to Hastings! Establish the ferry servic ...

I also agree that any rail to Rowville, if built, should spur off the rail at Oakleigh. This would further define its status as a hub, lead to an enhancement or redevelopment of the station, and encou ...

Does Rooks Road have to be done in order for Mitcham Road to be completed?

My view on Avalon is never rock solid, sometimes I think it deserves rail, sometimes not.

I do know, however, that rail to Avalon will only work upon the completion of RRL and a link from Werribee  ...

Thanks Speed.

I'll divert my discussion on Avalon to that thread!

Doncaster, in my eyes, will be a HUGE waste of taxpayers money for the moment. The bus system is working well, and I know a doze ...

So everyone here has heard, that Liberal has 'pledged' feasibility studies into a few far-fetched railways, into Avalon Airport (to take in all the 'HUGE' numbers of passengers there,) Melbourne Airpo ...

If there was a railway line to Monash...

there would be a good 6 months of the year where it is completely bare, as the university would be closed. As there are many long breaks in university semeste ...

Whilst I like the idea of a fast, frequent express bus to Westall, and activiting the station a little more than it already is, I think there is more potential in other areas.

Services to Clayton,  ...

I think we all have to remember, that Monash University really is the ONLY major trip generator in this corridoor. I'm being realistic. Huntingdale-Rowville is no Ringwood-Belgrave (it isn't a major r ...

Would it be useful if we obtained same data/statistics on where Monash Students and academics are actually coming from?

And how many Roweville residents work in the city, and on the rail corridor f ...

To be honest, i really like the proposal.

Richmond is prime location.

Great transport. Minutes to the city. On what is, Australia, if not, one of the worlds best sporting precincts. Located righ ...

It makes sense, and no one ever said it had to go via the Sydney CBD - certainly not initially.

Maybe long term there should be a link, but there is nothing that says that it can't be done in stag ...

I know I'm bringing up an old thread but...

I've been doing a fair bit of research on this east coast fast rail as I like to call it, and I believe that the rail line should run via Parramatta, and ...

The way I look at it, and the way I will continue to look at it, is that Doncaster, a large part of Doncaster East and Donvale are in direct catchment of the Lilydalle/Belgrave line. The 903, 902 and  ...

Would you trust the vicroads times?

At the moment, the report from vicroads is (on 5th September at 10:15AM):

Kings Way to Burnley St (via Burnley Tunnel) 5 Light

Burnley St to Toorak Rd 2 Medium

How fast could a bus-way really be?

Here's a bit of a comparison for off-peak times:

From the corner of Wellington/Stud Roads to Punt Road and Swan street off peak according to Google maps, and via  ...

Wow. Melbourne really does need to catch up with buses.

Yeah sure, people have bad attitudes towards buses. But as everyone has said, easily fixed with better connecting/higher frequency services,  ...

If there is such a wide median down Wellington Road,

and the population of Rowville is only 34,000,

and Dandenong and Ringwood, future CADS are in close proximity

and there are students who are com ...
