Great photos Aaron, but are you making preparations to include tram tracks for the tram extension?

Thanks
Geoffrey

Um, let me think about that... Just for a moment...

NO!!!!

Just like on the prototype too much time, effort and resources have been spent creating an excellent smooth roadway to have it ruined by a couple of tram tracks.

Besides the planning committee and electrical board (aka me) have only just completed all of the underground cabling in Rome, and we will not be gaining those unsightly overhead wires EVER!!!!

spottyrahr, is that 4466 or 4464?
My Couz has 4464 on he's layout.

My BL (BL 29) arrived yesterday! Despite being purchased in possibly the wierdest place to get a model (virtually an expanded comic store!), it is complete with detail parts, historical notes, everything! It runs as I expected and is now my most powerful locomotive and should have a long life ahead of it. Yesterday, I did most of my testing on the only only place with a good long length of running space (aka, my kitchen bench!) So the microwave is in those pictures for a reason!

I am over the moon with this one. My first really new locomotive (although again second hand) for a couple of years, and by far my most expensive.

Yes have that book good one it is (yoda talk)

Nice BL are you getting the limited edition one as well?
  409 Minister for Railways

Nah, they only had a standard edition AN livery BL in. Besides, I have a very, very, very limited budget so it would be beyond my reach. That is why the Lima 930 in the back ground of a couple of pics only cost $15!

lol though i brought a thomas and toad (van) today for my neice lol and if theres no bumps thomas can kinda hold the loop thing on the SoP cars lol

Very impressive photos, layouts, locos and vehicles here!  Very Happy Especially Duffy's layout and Rome.

NICE! Is that a scratchbuilt/kitbashed semaphore signal?

Here are a couple of photos of my kit bashed (South Australianised) Bachmann (Spectrum) tamper, it's not my own work, a fellow club member performed the surgery...

"Aaron"
Also very NICE! Would you know how your fellow club member kitbashed this model? I too am considering getting one of these, and John Holland-bashing one with logos and the such.

"spottyrahr"
A working progress indeed. How big is this baseboard overall?

Here are some photos of my club's layouts.

Our permanent layout (still under construction)...

VERY nice and impressive this one!

Is Rome station scratchbuilt with Styrene?

Cheers

The signal is a Uneek Static Drop arm home signal that is available in kit form.  Casulas probably your best bet if you want one

The first picture on the thread, #4473, looks like TrainOrama meets Yellow Submarine. How did you do that ballast?

I have only recently started buying model trains (all australian at the moment). Anyone know where you can get your hands on one of those brilliant BL's in AN livery. I recently got myself one in National Rail livery for dirt cheap but they look better in AN livery.
Also, have the CLP's, etc, been released from Austrains yet? Except from Broad Gauge Bogies, who else makes a ready to run Bluebird?
  SAR621 Chief Commissioner

No one makes bluebirds except BGB.

You can find a AN livery BL on the arkits site http://www.arkits.com , goto the TS section, and you will find one there.

I noticed that grey controller, i've been using one of those for a while now. Its on its final legs after I ran 16 locos (me and my mates) all at once and used the AC to power some signals at the same time! The locos were crawling slower than a snail, some might argue that it was low speed operation at its best.

As for the board, its a good start, and was pretty much how I started too, except i used a dining table. I had two Lima B's and some of those Powerline cars. If you want to fix that 44, there is a remotoring kit available from Model Torque, the result is a smoother, quieter and better running model. Costs about $40 though.
  409 Minister for Railways

I have one of those controllers as well (used to have three of them at the start of this year Shocked ), they only have 0.36 amps produced out of it so no wonder you ran 16 locos at a snails pace. Can I ask you a question? Does your's have a few of the lowest notches that won't work? Mine is like that so when trying to make a good start away, the loco suddenly stalls and then takes off like a rocket. Might be because of its age however, just want to be sure.

i wouldnt say its rough, though its bloody loud, i could say it sounds almost like a real loco, but its a smeg runnier. i have to turn the knob just about half way either way before it starts going and it takes ages to get up speed

the green "lifelike" model i have (seen in the pic) that bloody flies.

There is a slim chance that you can get a second hand Powerline example. There are a few (only a few) availabe out there. Last Wednesday, I managed to get one from what is really a collectabletoy shop (oddest of places I know but there were a few good models there). If you look around hard enough, you may be able to find a Powerline AN livery. I agree with you about the livery as well 8)

Regarding your C505. I have a C506 V/Line and a C508 VR. I think the C in V/Line orange and grey is the finest looking loco I have. After cleaning up the gooey mess inside that was once called "tape", and putting in a decoder (which required enlarging the groove in the weight)., it is also a very quiet and smooth runner. Not complaining, just reporting and advising, as it was well worth the efforts, and I have nothing but good things to say about Austrains.  Congratulations on getting one from Santa.
