The ACNs based at Picton were originally 4142/43, 4172-75 (inclusive). Can't confirm if that's still the case, sorry.

A CBH loco and a rail train was in Brunswick / Picton this weekend. I didn't get the number unfortunately. Is this the first time a CBH loco has been south of Kwinana ?

CBH017, yes, the first time a CBH loco has worked in the region.  It ran as far as Hamilton yesterday.

Is this why it has been sitting in the back roads at Bellevue for a while? I noticed it parked up there early last week and again on the weekend and this morning, but I hadn't seen it move.

That is right Bulbous, has worked rail trains over three consecutive weekends.

Thanks Simon, any idea where and when the next run for the rail train will be?

Cheers,

Matt,

CBH017 is still stabled in the Flashbutt siding.  I have heard that the rail fleet heads out again next Wednesday morning for the south, have met a couple of the Watco managers driving the trains and they are quite friendly and informative.

CBH 025 was in Brunswick with the rail fleet this Thursday. I noticed that traction motor 5 was missing its traction motor gear housing and pinion gear. The motor looked new/ rebuilt with new paint. Anyone have any ideas ?

Does anyone know why a DFZ class, 2304 I think, is in Picton?

DBclass
DFZ2405 it is.

This is due to the Midwest requiring extra P's due to the fact that the third set will be starting again soon.

Thanks. I haven't seen a DFZ down here before.

CBH 008 is down in Brunswick with the rail set today also.

Didn't think the DFZ's would get much of a run again as they have been stored. Talk was 2 being re-activated so will see what happens.

They have a good sound when working hard, be interesting to see what trains they will work down there!

The 2300s regularly work in multiple with 2800s and occasionally 4000s in Queensland...so it's possible the DFZs will end up with the Ss or ACNs.

There isn't  any call for double heading down here.  It will most likely run a caustic or short alumina train. Afterall the A class used to run the caustic train.

Kwinana and Picton now only have single loco workings, only time there is more than one loco on a train is for a failure or a transfer.

DFZ 2305 has gone it seems from Picton. I am not sure if it is back up Perth way. I don't know how successful it was either as it spent a lot of time idle at the yard. PA 2805 I think it was was down working from Picton for a bit also but has since gone too. There are two S class working out of Picton which is rare at the moment. There hasn't been an S class working from Picton for quite some time, although an S works at Collie still as far as I know.

PA2819 and DFZ2405 have now gone to Albany for woodchip traffic, replacing P2510 & 2516.

PA2819. Thank you. I know there is only one over here but couldn't remember the number. The PA was down there anyway I believe. Pity I missed seeing the DFZ working. Might have to go to Albany.

DB 2309 was at the Picton shed yesterday. S3308 has been working down here lately. Not sure why, but last week it looked as though a P class had stalled on the Burekup grade in wet weather. It sounded as though the unit was still running as I drove past. Perhaps they swapped the P for an S to prevent the same ?

I hope this isn't too off topic but is the ALZ still parked in the Picton area?

As far as I know it is. The L class was still there a few weeks ago when I drove past.
