Idea All these DSCR snow photos - which I've been enjoying looking at - someone should get very clever and turn them all into Xmas cards.

Perhaps DSCR could do this, as a way of fund-raising?

I know they sell a post card 91RM covered in snow!! looks good

It would be good if we had some snow on an operational day maybe not that heavy then you could get some good shots Smile the only problem would be the diesel freezing and turning to jelly as inter said happened in 2000.

Alpine diesel, you learn something new every day!  Very Happy Never heard of it til then, care to elaborate on how/what makes it "Alpine", I suppose aside from turning to jelly in freezing temps?

Ok lets hope the next snowy day is an operating day, it should set the scene for some fantastic photography maybe VRfan could take some photos with that good camera I know he has Wink

It would be a good chance for the DSCR to make a profit off the cold weather of Daylesford  Very Happy

There is a good photo taken by the VR of a 280 passing the Bullarto gang shed after a heavy fall of snow in October 1968 in Timber, Spuds and Spa I guess there would have been lots of photos over the years

Hi all,

The DSCR website has been updated with more photos of 32RM's restoration. While there is still a long way to go before it's completed, we are again making solid progress on rebuilding the timber in the frame.

http://www.dscr.com.au/gallery.php?page=One&file=32rm_photos.txt

BTW, if anyone would like to become involved with this project, it's a great time to join in. There's lots of areas to work on. eg: timberwork, metalwork, painting, interior work, mechanical work, electrical work, etc...

Even if you haven't done anything like this before or you can only spare several days a year, you are most welcome to come up to Daylesford and give it a go.

If anybody is interested, simply contact our volunteers co-ordinator to find out more:

Good to see work is progressing Smile Any more news on 53RM?

What state is the wooden frame in 7RM & 22RM-(at the YVTR)? 32's must have been bad to need replacement.

Id ask in the YVTR page, but basically, apart from some small areas, like under all the windows in the doors, and the radiator grills frame, the timber in 22 was pretty good, all things considered. Hence the replacement of the frame is not needed to be carried out.

Another year in the museum and that may not have been the case, the roof was alowing almost as much water in as kept out, so it wouldnt have lasted long.

I saw some work happening at the station today looked like sleeper replacement on the Daylesford end points. I would love to help out but very rarely have the time, maybe next year.

What needs to be done to 32 after the timber frame is completed?

I remember reading that 32's engine was stuffed and that it is to be replaced with 24Rm's is this true?
