Just trying to keep this forum alive but with recent projects around Melbourne will the DSCR get surplus material (rails, sleepers, etc.) from Victrack?

From time to time surplus items are made available to all the groups. As we currently only place new A-grade sleepers in our running line there is no need for second hand sleepers.  Rail was recovered from Wahgunyah last year and currently we have enough stockpiled to complete our current curve re-railing program.

So multiple TRs got rail from Wahgunyah?  I know Walhalla had on their Facebook page that they received a decent amount of rail from there for their Erica stockpile.

I had the pleasure of riding the "Silver Streak" last Saturday evening, and then the DERM on the Sunday morning. The Silver Streak is a great ride- you get well fed & watered, entertained, and you ride to Bullarto in comfort.

The ride on the DERM was memorable the next morning- stinking hot weather discouraged many from taking the ride. I don't envy the driver... sitting on top of the engine on a hot day must not be fun...

Thanks guys... I think you are doing a great job at Daylesford!

Bullarto has been a hive of activity recently, the down end of the platform has been partly restored to its 1930's appearance.

The grass on the platform has been replaced with sand/gravel, the original garden beds have also been reinstated.

Here is a photo before we started any work at Bullarto, as you can see the platform was extremely overgrown.  Hopefully in the not too distant future a grant will become available to replace the VR portable with the original 1880's station building...

With the extension of the rolling stock shed near Daylesford being completed recently, 82RM was moved to undercover storage for the first time in many years on Saturday morning. Here's some shots of the shunting moves around Daylesford

On Monday 8/12/14 a significant milestone was reached in the restoration of 32RM, the powerunit was separated from the passenger car and the engine was removed for overhaul.   As can clearly be seen by these photos, the walkers are extremely lightly built!

Crikey; you're not wrong. It's only one degree removed from cardboard and string.

Bit of an update on 32RM's restoration...

Over the last six months the majority of the external body work has been completed, this has included fitting of new sheetmetal cladding and custom made aluminium extrusions.  The engine, gearbox and fluid flywheel have been rebuilt and re fitted to the powerunit.  Work is currently underway rebuilding the control stand and the associated wiring.

Its hoped to have 32 ready for painting as soon as the warmer weather returns...

We have also recently built a second storage shed, this will house our two stored 280hp walker railmotors (82 and 85RM)

The interior of the station at Daylesford has been restored to reflect its 1920's appearance, a massive amount of work has gone in to recreating what was removed when the station closed in '78.

Not sure, but the really impressive news is that 32RM is fully restored and fully operational. Very Happy

They took it out for a jolly on Sunday. It's a real achievement for the surprisingly small but highly dedicated group of volunteers who rebuilt it from a total wreck.
