Here is one that disappeared off the radar and I'm surprised that the Libs in Geelong haven't jumped onboard-

$257 Million For New Regional Trains And Local Jobs

1 May 2015

"The $257 million investment includes a new maintenance and stabling yard in Waurn Ponds, creating more than 100 jobs during construction and about 30 ongoing jobs once completed."

Does anyone know what ever happened with regards to this? Was supposed to coincide with the delivery of V/Locities 60-66.

I occasionally wonder about it myself. The last I remember hearing was that the land owner was unhappy with V/Line acquiring land across the full length of his property and not agreeing to the deal. It's been largely quiet since then. The article about his unhappiness is here.

Perhaps V/Line/PTV were forced to do a rethink on location and have gotten bogged down in replanning it?

Could the recent maintenance and rolling stock issues have something to do with the stabling not coming into action yet? V/Line must be limiting their space taking on new VLocities without having room to keep them somewhere?

N463 has now gone to Gemco where its SG bogies will go under N457 which has recently been painted. N463 to be returned to Broad Gauge (on 457's bogies) and then commence CCO on N463.

Former Set N8 reformed as ACN24 BRN34 BDN2 all in new corporate colours.

Here are the Pics

Think you will find this set will get a new liveried BN added and then all onto sg and that is the fourth sg set, as only sg sets have BDN cars .

Question now is
What power/nonpower van are they going to use on fourth set plus it's livery?

Rumour has it that our beloved whiz kids at VLP are re-building a stainless steel  passenger carriage as a fourth standard gauge power van  !!!  If true that would have to be the most expensive impractical solution to realizing a fourth powervan .

One could get a sg ss powervan from GSR who have a yard full of spares in Adelaide  .

It is fact, Downer doing the job with all new gensets. Why would anyone buy an old powervan then throw out the gensets for new ones, VLine needs reliability in power supply not old dated power systems.

It's a smart move, these days gensets are all in one, slide the package unit in and out when needed.

Yes but converting a passenger carriage  ?  No you convert a former ss  brakevan or powervan ex  GSR.
No argument in putting in new gen set.

One just gets so fed up with  VLP , thought Clowns was perhaps a bit rough though .  But consider all these VLP  fiascos which were totally avoidable if VLP had learnt from past experience  :

-  3 years to source new bogie frames for 22  Z cars -  unbelievable BLUE HILLS saga,. and still 5 - 6 cars to be done - VLP usual URGENCY of all  the speed of a crippled snail . one wouldnt think they were short of stock ,.  If they attached more urgency to getting all 22 cars back in service, they might save on bus hire  .

- V/Locity wheelwear issue .  Same issue years ago with track on viaduct between Spencer St & Flinders St and Hitachi trains, incompatibility of rail hardness between wheels and rails on tighly curved track, lack of flange lubrication etc.
-  Lx activation and V/locity  DMU  ,  same issues years ago with  Sprinters on Geelong & Bendigo lines.

In the latest issue of the Echuca Line suspension where is our new VLP CEO  ? he should be speaking on the issue NOT the Spin Doctors .

The latest issue of V/line Horizon contains a serious error of quoted fact, and spelling errors . The CEO who puts out a Newsletter under his name who does not read it and correct spelling errors, and who relies on spin doctors for accuracy of fact will eventually live to regret it  .  (Vale former CEO  circa  01/2016  !!!)

Error of fact is crowing about  Murray Basin standardization claiming  Ouyen - Murrayville is already standard gauge, and  secondly on issue of  WOLO restrictions claiming VLP has not cancelled any freight trains because of the WOLOS -  sort of Trump like FAKE  News - as VLP does not run any freight trains of course .  Would be interesting to know from the actual Freight Operators if they have had to amex any trains because of VLP  Nanny State  no freight trains over  XX  degrees heat policy  ? on Freight lines.

Currently sat on board VL65 to Bendigo. Must be a brand spanker, everything is shiny and has that new car smell about it. ***edit, just been told that this is the first revenue service for this new set***

Smile No....... but we were rather late boarding and a little tardy getting away despite the set having been at the platform at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. There were a fair number of Vline personnel working in and around the cab. I thought it was going to be a fail there for a while!

BTN254 and BZN258 have both been returned to West Melbourne and have received new bogie frames and a lick of new paint and full refurb. Full refurb as both cars have not been in service sins they were in VLP2 red and original BZN/BTN conversion interior.
