Ok let me try to explain it. This HO scale 1:60 shrimp boat brings the shrimp they catch into a harbour where the shrimp are then transferred into a NSWGR iced wagon for on forwarding to processing plant! That is as close as I could get though! LaughingLaughing

I don't normally comment on eBay items but this is from an online store. Why pay over $400 used when Auscision are still selling then for $295 new?

One word is used to describe those that buy things like this at inflated prices when you can still buy it for the regular RRP, that word is "SUCKERS", and there is one born every minute. It amazes me at most times that those with a PC or laptop cannot do a simple Google or similar search and find out they can get it cheaper instead of being ripped off. If you have a tool such as a computer it pays to use it to it's full potential. It only takes a minute or so to check, so it does not take to much of their precious time!

Have a look at all his (Peter Berg of Berg's Hobbies) other items. He has a shed-full of over-priced stuff and I wonder how he can justify spending the ebay lodgement fees (even though they are relatively small....compared to the rip-off fees they charge when you actually sell an item!!!).

I've brought-up this topic before, about various Powerline 63 foot container wagons for $69- plus about $30- odd postage. YIKES!!!

I've always wondered if the greatly overprice "brass" is stuff he is selling on consignment.
  5711 Assistant Commissioner

I overheard that the shipping price is actually incorrect and defaults when they lodge a posting.
Their prices instore are not that expensive - sure a few models like unpainted brass can ask for top dollar but there are Auscision gear in the shop that is selling for the RRP and not over inflated.
The ILM 86 class for $1000+ is a little crazy I must admit but I think if you went instore you could get a few hundred off that cos its just unrealistic - and with Auscision's arriving this year for $295 I reckon it won't sell for that price....ever!

Bear in mind this loco is a bloody DUMMY.....just like the dood who is willing to pay $230-+ for it.

Ah Bill,
A smart way to fix the MUFF problem, 6 wheel sets ready to be transplanted.

I have a dummy 49 and used one of the wheel sets to replace one in a 44.

Yeh, it might work okay....but at THAT price I'd be wanting it to also provide me with a spare motor and drive shafts etc too....LOL

Do those dummy locos come with fully working bogies? (ie: all the gears inside). I'm guessing they wouldn't have the worm gear, but would need to have the clip on cover that holds the bogie in place on the chassis.

Bill

PS: I hope I haven't insulted you....if it was you who is/was bidding on that model....

And for a lot of people there is nothing beyond the few sites they know. There is no "Internet" beyond eBay, Facebook, News Ltd sites and iTunes... That's the Internet... Laughing

But it does bewilder me how people pay for this stuff when, like you said, a simple search online would find the exact same product online, ready to purchase through a secure cart for far less (and at RRP!).

Bewilders and amuses at the same time! Smile

Bill,
No it wasn't me, so no insult.
Yes the bogies have all the gears in place, except the worm drive (gear). All you need to power up is the motor, shafts and the worm drive gear.
I have been lucky so far with my 44's, only one has the click click. Was properly brought on due to running for three days straight with 60 weighted bogie wagons behind her three years ago at the Perth exhibition. Also if you have a derail on a frog, I have experienced the wheel set heating up enough for the muff getting soft and starting to melt. I replaced the wheel set with one out of the dummy 49.
The old 44 wheel set after some surgery was then re-fitted into the 49, however it has a slight wobble, so slow running is required.

I just wonder if the dummy bidding on that Bill realises it is a dummy and not a proper powered one. He is going to get a shock when he places it on his layout and turns up the juice and it just sits there and does nothing at all. I see a complaint coming on here by the looks of it. This is a good example of why you need to keep your wits about you and/or do some research.
  gw0071 Deputy Commissioner

The description mentions 'dummy' so the only basis of a complaint would be on the grounds of buyer stupidity

Ironic how not too long back Tom's had a perpetual sale price of $150 on remaining 44's. Now that they have finally been shifted/ceased discounting would explain the inflated eBay prices

The seller was smart enough not to mention the word "dummy" in the description near the photo. May be this tricked a few into believing it was a powered unit.
The word "dummy" was only mentioned in the description tab.

Well they either read the description and were knowingly bidding or they didn't read the description and have their own foolishness to deal with.
  Newcastle Express Chief Commissioner

Or better still, why doesn't someone ask the seller why he left out in the title, that it is a dummy? You're not going to get an answer here.

Edit: Just noticed that the description does not know use the word "dummy".
Edit-2: Yes it does, but is deliberately well hidden.

Also note that the ebay user using the name hornbyshop is NOT Hornby, and they've obviously done that to try and trick people. The offical Hornby eBay username is hornbyhobbiesltd.

More conspiracy theories than an Animals Australia AGM...

Why would Hornby's official eBay account be selling TrainOrama models? The vendor in question has called themselves 'Hornbyshop' possibly because they operate(d) some sort of business vending Hornby, be that new or used, and the eBay ID has stuck. It need not be to trick people, I know the conspiracy theory is always more intriguing (and believable) than the truth for many people, but really it's time to let things go.

Item as described in Oz eBay away from main description:-

Tenshodo Japanese  Brass F3 D&RG it has had reasonable wear and tear.

Have converted to DCC
good luck

I purchased the above on Oz eBay recently for $50 just to see what turned up as I figured the DCC device is probably worth something and curious to see how it had been converted. Of course when I got it no DCC. Am I surprised, no. Actually the mechanism was good and I need one to convert a dummy Tenshodo B unit. It will be a real power house of all powered ABBA units in SP Daylight colours. Will not go into what else was wrong with the unit I purchased except the Tenshodo never made an F3. Oh well, win some, lose some.

This probably only shows you how many suckers there are in this world though. Someone mentioned on here that Bergs have cheaper prices if you go into the actual shop for these items, that is akin to mark up is it not! I am not starting a legal essay here Aaron just pointing out something. I did say akin to it!8)
