OK...let me put on my professional hat for a moment and think out loud...

I have been watching some of these more outrageous items over the last year or so and, that I recall, none have sold; so what could be going on?
  • It could be an honest mistake in pricing (don't really think so);
  • It could be someone just having a laugh (says to mates down the pub, "look what I did");
  • It could be someone's account has been hijacked (most recent example where the previous track record is fine);
  • It could be a signal for other types of illegal activity (when you see x advertised at y price, it is a signal for a third party to do something else);
  • IF (note the caps) the items were actually selling, I would be thinking money laundering, but I just don't see them selling.

There are many other possibilities, but the day job in me has been interested for a while and, while there are a few moments of fun (Bergs especially), some of the more outrageous ones are clearly not the same.

Thoughts?

Bergs aside, I sometimes think that the wife has put her foot down,

"You have too many toys!  Get rid of some before you buy anymore!"

"But honey, I listed them on ebay, but no one is buying..."

They've got a few over the top items at the moment, and they all end in $83
