Maybe another route to get freight out of Deni if Rochester goes under again?
Cheers
Rick
Just came through Tatura and noticed a couple of highrails trundling off towards Kyabram. Looks like they doing some cleanup work after the storms here, but they're leaving "Railway Reopened" signs on all the LX's.
Maybe another route to get freight out of Deni if Rochester goes under again?
The line will also be utilised when shutdown occurs in coming months due to bridge repairs and replacement at Murchison East. I would envisage freight trains running to Toolamba ex Echuca and reversing to head to Tocumwal, there are also plans to place concrete sleepers on the main line as well.

Where's the bridge that will be worked on at Murchison East, as far as I can recall (could be blind though) there are only two large bridges on the line. The first just south of Toolamba the second just East of Mooroopna both taking the line over the Goulburn river.
Then of course there is the bridge over the Murray at Tocumwal which REALLY is past its "use by" date.

Interesting. Do you know if they are going to be BG only or gauge convertible? Considering that this line is an obvious candidate for conversion to SG, logically they should be gauge convertible.
A lot of crossings between Mangalore and ... well, Shepparton, where there is asphalt have been dual gauged. Can't vouch for the other side of Shep, although. LowndesJ515 might be able to.

Perhaps Pacific National are just showing their committment to Victorian rail freight.
Um, Tocumwal, well er, perhaps it's their committment to NSW rail freight.
Local council must be spitting chips over work being done in Shepparton yard. Doesn't look like V/Line are moving out any time soon.
On the downside No 3 road has been removed and no signalling planned for the Dookie line.
A train order should be all the signalling the Dookie line should require.
