Hi all,

We've created this forum as a means of discussing news articles. To create a new thread, please click the "Discuss news article" in the news article you wish to discuss - this will bring over the first few paragraphs of the article, along with a link back to the full article.

Interesting concept but a week on a rather underwhelming response.........

What would be much more useful is the option to embed a news story .... or at least the existence of an article @ a particuliar date ??? into some of the long running threads.....eg North Sydney Freight Corridor.

Particuliarly with "Search" still seeming less than optimal it can be hard to locate a RP  "News" story you may remember reading 12 months, 2 years on ..............which relates to a specific topic / thread.

When a user clicks on "Discuss this news article", it quotes the news article in the OP.

That may be what is supposed to happen, but as noted in the "Bugs" thread it doesn't actually work at all. This will account for the lack of use of this feature...

The issue at present seems to be multiplicity. Some articles have multiple corresponding threads without any replies. The needs to be a constraint to stop people raising a thread when the article already has one.

but now, and apparently lately, it's been not starting a new thread, but completing the new thread, then opening it in edit mode, and not from the article being clicked from

so that having closed the edit mode page, the new article is still there on some other random topic.

This is a. Y/N answer for me. Yes people post news articles but none actually comments on them and has chats about it and have a few pages long and alot of them have no replys either(some people reply though) also a No answer is if a person wants more info they would put it in the right forum e.g the one about grotty stations Boxythingy put it in the Sydney suburban forum and it has attracted alot more replys whereas bevans has put it In this forum and it has one reply and that was from me (though I don't know when both were posted). That's my idea.

I just read a news article about the northern Rivers railway in NSW. His excuse for no rail trail is $$$$$_ of course. But saying that no emergency vehicles can get to the track. It's to hot to ride a bike and the big one. Floods will wash them away. No more fake bollocks crap fake news...please ,Beaven... PS when I was a photo journalist for the Melbourne Herald. we report the news not embalish the owners views. Now it's  the end of the world as I know it!

It's at the bottom of each News Article, just above the Twitter, Facebook, Google+ & LinkedIn buttons. Not sure why the is a Google+ button as this platform has been shut down!

I don't know if that was tongue in cheek, but hasn't Google shutdown Google+?

Google+ is still operating in the corporate space.  The social buttons need a bit of work.  Anyone had issues with Facebook?

Hey. As far as I know, Google + has not been working for about a year. And at the corporate level, G Suite works.
