UGL seems to have a new loco thread for discussions on their current goings on and their locomotives but I couldn't find any for EDI. So now EDI has one.

Does anybody know about the current ststus of PN's TT and TT100 class builds? Is there any progress to building TT's 07 and 08? And elswhere on the internet there is/are photos of TT114 on the head of a coal train.

Also heard rumour of GSR ordering from EDI, is this true or just a gunzel dream?

A single thread with all information in the one place is often good value....

Trawling thru a sightings thread to find what you're looking for isn't usually the most productive use of time when one thread with the information in it can be found.

TT07 and TT114 were delivered about a month ago and have completed their trials and are now on the regular loco roster.
TT08 was delivered about 2 weeks ago, has been trialed and was last seen at EDI KCL. (Monday). I guess it is getting a check over after it's trials.

Well this thread has been horribly inactive, is there anything new we can talk about/speculate on?

The problem is that UGL is next to one of the busiest road junctions in the Newcastle area and EDI is completely out of sight unless you climb a fence at a suburban shopping centre...

My train trips past the place have only revealed Waratahs and GWA's sitting around, with the occasional SSR loco/81 etc (However its been a few weeks since Ive been past the place so I dont know what its like now)

Australian Railways Illustrated reports GWA 008-010 and TTs up to 126

Back in December Downer were talking of continuing with the production line 'on spec', but you can only go so far with that.

TT's will go beyond 126 if what I was told at work a few days ago is anything to go by.
TT120 was delivered this week.

Not sure if this is what you're after, but TT's 115, 116, 117 and 118 are currently stabled in the valley awaiting the new financial year before being pressed into service. I managed to get a couple of pics (on my phone - apologies for the quality).

I have no idea as to why they are parked up, but I can tell you they have all been on regular working from the day they were delivered.

GWA009 was doing a radio check a few days ago. Not sure how close it is to being delivered, but I would say very close.

Yeah, I dunno either. All we were told is that they couldn't be used until the new financial year for some tax reason. Currently stabled in the cripple siding at Antiene.

If it is convenient for anyone, noting down the builder's number of TT118 (which should be the first of the order, depending on where TT09 and TT10 appear in the list) or any higher numbered unit would be appreciated by many of us...

The plate is on the side of the hood on the right side of the locomotive between the cab and the entry vestibule.

Assuming TT01-10 and TT101-126 all enter service soon, there will be one more TT in service than 90 class.

They would need to get another 20 to have more TTs than 82s...

TT09 and TT10? Did these two get ordered with TT118-TT126 or are they a seperate extension of the order?

One report suggests the order was TT09-10 and TT118-126

Another just reports 118-126...

The previous order was TT07-08, TT107-117, of course

It was reported that TT07-08 were not fitted with ballast, so should be the same as TT107-117....

Motive Power indicated that TT05 and TT06 had the ballast reduced by about 3t, giving a weight of 136.2t which would allow them to run at 100km/h rather than 80km/h and was intended to allow them on Gunnedah operation with fewer restrictions.

The ARTC have issued a TOC Waiver for TTs at 136.2 tonnes, so it really happened although I'm not sure what you gain from only two tonnes spread over six axles.

A few days ago we followed another TT frame out of Carrington. Word around the place is TT's will be all we have in years to come.

Then again the cab may be better on a 90 vs the TT if what I've heard is correct...

90 classes may be a prime candidate for a modernisation programme . Transition to AC drive and a few brake upgrades could make them more usefull than they are ATM . Just depends on the costs involved .
The 90 I went in ages ago didn't seem that much different to an 82 cab wise . Not exactly brilliant but then again if customers keep buying agricultural wheres the incentive for the manufacturer to improve things .

I believe it'd cost as much to AC a 90 as it would to buy new....

Then again a 160t EMD AC would be an idea.
