I just clicked on the add at the bottom of one of the threads for the National Broadband Network rollout. Then you get the option of entering your postcode to see when the rollout will be coming your way.

I entered '3814' for my area and got the choice of:

1/ Victoria, 3814, Australia (which is correct)

2/ 38140, La Murette, France

3/ Memphis, Tennessee, 38141

4/ YüreÄŸir, 3814. Sokak, Adana, Türkiye

5/ Kepez, 3814. Sokak, Antalya, Türkiye

No wonder this NBN rollout is taking forever, it looks like we are installing the thing in France, The USA and Turkey before we get to our own country.

Or is it just another example of web site programming by that equally useless organisation Sensis? You know, the ones who have a monopoly on the federal government site programming and who bring you all the GPS maps with ridiculous errors in them?

Yeah, I noticed that as well. I guess they're using Sensis (or some other stodgy geolocation service) without bothering to filter by country...

I'm still eager to get my fibre!

I had just assumed it was some Google Maps service. It's a pretty minor issue in the scheme of it.

I'm currently in a Stage 3 area. Very Happy

That makes it more important that we stop Huawei from controlling the network?

The NBN is a joke, an overpriced white elephant. Checking out my address, I am in the three year plan, which actually means it'll never happen. That said, the end of my street is not in the three year plan. Does that mean I am right on the end of three years and my neighbors will be early fourth year? One wonders.

Recently, people have been out trying to convince my 90 year old grandmother to sign up. She has never used a mobile phone, never used a computer, doesn't have digital TV, she only has a tv that can't even have a digital box connected to it, and would much prefer to listen to her 'wireless' anyway...

The sales people were pretty much trying to force her onto it, having found she has computer they suggested that many of the features would benefit her on th tv. Then they were on about video calls, great, like that's a feature she needs. She didn't understand a word and told them to decamp from her property.

AAPT did that to my Grandmother a few years ago.  She's 95, for crying out loud, you parasites.
But that's got nothing to do with the NBN...
I'm in the '3 year' area.  Bring it on! Smile
