This seems to have got political when that was not my point.
Yes I am a consultant which gives me a unique qualification to know how consultants/architects can make jobs more complex in order to boost their fee recovery and to show off their skills. I know all the tricks BUT personally I try NOT TO USE them but rather expose them. I can point to a major Adelaide project where security of service delivery has been compromised to spend money on facades and decoration.
I am not defending the old pedestrian bridge except to say it was a very efficient design even if now no longer DDA compliant.
My point is that the tracks could have been crossed and lift access provided with weather cover and suicide protection for much less steel.
That the money was "wasted" in Adelaide is not really a good reason for making the design more complex.
