6029 to Bungedore for Father's Day

  M636C Minister for Railways

This train was advertised as using 1210 with a diesel.

However, 6029 was used alone with eight (or so) steel cars. It ran boiler first north, bunker first south.

I'd been out on Saturday morning looking at the morning up PN trains, so we followed it back from Bungendore to Queanbeyan.

I think there were one or two other cars chasing it. A big contrast to previous outings.

We got it leaving Bungendore, at the HQJOC bridge, approaching the Burbong bridge and departing Queanbeyan.(Just missed the Queanbeyan River bridge, it wasn't slow...)

Good to see it with no assistance at all.

In theory it ran on Sunday too...

Where was it advertised as 1210? 3016 maybe, but 1210 is being stripped for overhaul.

That information came from a friend on the day of the trip, apparently drawn from the local newspaper.

It is possible that an illustration of 1210 appeared in the paper, or just that the wrong conclusion was drawn.

However, it seems clear that the railfan community did not expect 6029, or more photographers would be out as has occurred on most previous trips.

Hauled 9 Cars both Saturday and Sunday.

Was advertised through the group's Facebook page that 3016 was being replaced with 6029 a couple days before the trips.

To have a loco replaced with that beast, what a bonus, and what a loco.....

And Sunday being fatherr's day I suspect the  team also had fun, well I hope they did.
