One further note should be added BIG- BEAR the bogies under these cars are also going to be available separately in their bogie range, but could be minus the electrical pick ups on them. Good news for those that have old cupola brakevans that need decent bogies on them.

The Caltex van was sold out last night. 250 models in 4 days, surely that's a record? even for a limited run?

( But it must be a typo because SAR doesn't sell......Wink ) I'm glad I got mine!

Got mine today. It no doubt sold out due to it being a collector crossing point item. Collectors of Caltex or other petrolania want it, same with SAR collectors. As for why I have one, to add some colour to my trains going around.

Knowing that the guys from Orient express like to release models at the June long weekend model train show here in Adelaide and the show is now under 3 months away . I thought that there maybe some painted samples around by now .

So I am just taking guess now that their released date would be some time after the long weekend then .

I also do visit the shop every 4 weeks to pick up the billboard van set so I have seen the unpainted samples in the window which do look good .

The last 3 billboard vans are in stock now .

Not up on their website as yet .

A painted sample of the Glenelg centenary car was on display in the shop window which looks good .

I was told that they would be here by the June long weekend model train show in Adelaide .

The quality looks great, but It looks like the cream window band has turned to 'custard' Wink  I would hate the task to repaint the green arch versions, but I'm sure they've noticed.

And yes I second the steel cars, my favourites.

Would the Victorians buy the K versions- not being true Vic stuff? (In the same way I have no interest in 750 steamers or CK diesels because they're not original SAR)

I would certainly be interested in the VR K Carriages, or even any of the 700 class carriages that were used by West Coast Railway (WCR). The market for these is probably small, though.

Perhaps some undecorated 700 class cars would be an option?

The cream certainly looks a bit too yellow to my eye too. Perhaps it's just the photos. Lovely models though & will certainly find a home in my collection for two or three.

Pick up another M van tomorrow, so will be nice to see the painted samples in the flesh.

The one I saw at the shop last week did look more yellow than cream . Perhaps the colours on them where more yellow in that era than the cream colour that I am used to on them now .

I will be getting a least 5 of the cars .

If they did the 700 class cars  .10 for me

The VR K set would be a good seller over here , for the victorian modeler your have following liveries for the SAR steel cars , VR , the Explorer , The Melbourne limited , Westcoast railway , and as preserved VR , northern rivers railroad then add lowana as preserved at the Castlemaine Maldon railway
I have a BGB K set that's never run right since it was built and way to heavy , myself and many others would love a RTR set to the standards of the current offerings by OER
Bring em on i say

With the VR K set it ran for many years over here and was one of the last stands for the Blue and Gold of the VR and the only remaining set of cars you could open windows in , this set also ran with one of the 2 last remaining B classes in VR being either B65 or B75 most of the time
As to your question would us Victorians buy the K versions , the answer is Hell yes indeed

Sounds like it would be a win win for us broad gauge brothers, I hope OER get the hint!

That's crazy unless someone else is already doing them , they would out sell the Centenary cars ( that do look awsome ) by heaps the SAR steel cars have ran in at least 3 states being SA , Victoria and NSW
Lets all keep on thier backs and keep asking
