Probably what that TV mob was spruiking here a few months ago, asking Driver's and their ilk for commentary or to ask their company to allow filming onboard. Obviously someone has given the OK, but it certainly isn't me! Hell, I've refused company employees permission to travel with me, yet alone a reality TV show...

Could be anything once the ignorant media get their hands on it. This month's RACV magazine is a classic with its account of steam to Castlemaine/Maldon.

The engine (R761) was "built in 1940" . . . well, an error of 10 or 11 years isn't too bad.
Then, a photo showed, "Driver Mick Welsh in the engine room". It was certainly Mick, but his location was a cab when I last heard.

When it is on tell us about it.  no foxtel at home so enjoy it.

The reality of the average person in society when it comes to the railways, they wouldn't know the details of a loco let alone the basics so the ignorant media instead of teaching, simplify what they are explaining which then leads to more errors and misunderstanding.

RACV being a auto mag with 'petrol heads' may have had a lend of us with the engineroom comment. However I think you are
right, they have no idea.

It's still not a reason to get Foxtel.

Just spotted an ad for it during Railroad Alaska. It looks like they got access to SCT (freight) and GSR (passenger), with a focus on the Nullarbor.

I cannot find this programme in the guide ss yet. When is it due to start?

It's currently at the coming soon stage, so unlike Molly probably sometime in March/April.
Here's a link to the ad http://bcove.me/fllcf7wt and I found it odd that the producers of it don't have anything about it. Supposedly it's from the same lot that does Outback Truckers and a few other WA based things.

1st Episode airs on Discovery Channel 10th March 8.30 pm.
Show has WA iron ore trains,SSR trains in NSW, SCT in SA/WA and others such as Normanton tourist train in QLD gulf. Should be interesting and hopefully not as much yank smeg as there is in Railroad Alaska.

A few interesting observations from that promo clip.
"2.8 kilometres long, 38 thousand tonnes" {0:03} (showing a Double stack SCT Train)
at 0:11 a kangaroo hops across in front of a train - from the look of the track it certainly isn't on the DIRN and anyone hazard a guess to which loco it is?
The passenger train {0:25} is a Pichi Richi Railway train docked at Port Augusta Station (not GSR)

That highlighted comment fits the bill of them being in WA on the Iron ore trains, like this post says.

I would be almost 100% positive that it's RM93, on the Normanton-Croydon line.  You can see a blue staff (looks like a circle) on the window sill, and NTN-CDQ is one of the last Staff and Ticket lines in the state.

These numbers look very high but could they be referring to trains in the north of Western Australia which may also be in the show?

Either what it is going to be fun to watch but I need to get Foxtel.

It actually shows a FMG driver who is a work colleague of mine, in a car describing the length of the trains which belong to FMG while he is driving along, it then cuts to a SCT freighter.

I travelled with them from Normanton to Cairns.  They were not too annoying, just made the trains back up a couple of times to re-film some bridge crossings from different angles.

Dont forget the promo for this show saying apart from the lenght and 'Mass' weight, the train is worth '3 to 4 Million' !!!!1
A couple of engines and few container 'flats' are worth that without considering the freight in those containers.

8 kilometers long and 38,000 Tonnes would need more than a few handbrakes applied going down the Blue Mountains.
