That's fanciful Bogong........ And yet you still refuse to spell Labor correctly

FYI....Apparently before 1912, Labor was spelt as Australian Labour Party.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Labor_Party

The Party was also formed at The Tree of Knowledge, Barcaldine Queensland, right in front of Barcaldine station.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_of_Knowledge_(Australia)

Which I highly recommend for a visit, because the best way of getting there is by the overnight Spirit of the Outback train from Brisbane...a journey to part of Australia that should be on ALL railfans bucket list.

Mike.

PS...how do you spell 'Parlor' Car...from the Spirit of Progress...English or American, even though the American spelling is used.
The Vinelander
When did the spelling change?

I'm not a big fan of spelling it "Labor" either.

The undeniable fact is that the Coalition in Victoria has done jack, nada nothing and I and others have posted evidence of this

Michael
Not quite true, the Murray Basin Rail Project was a Ballieu Government initiative as was the establishment of the PTV and PSOs IIRC (not that I am a fan of PSOs). Depending on who you are listening to at the time there were a few other bits and pieces that were worthwhile but overall more harm than good by some way.

Yeah and together with the funding they had ripped out, it amounts to fa. Whilst commendable the PTV is a paper tiger merely a re-branding of Metlink. Compared to the present Government the have done little and I mean little.

Yeah what ever, BG, but if you think that I am going to praise what little the Coalition has done and continually pay out Jacinta Allan who no doubt at times comes across as a spin merchant you have another thing coming. I will never forget the spin the last Government did as regards to the 1 xtrap train for the Frankston line. I have stated as to why I criticize posters who argue for impartiality and are not objective themselves and also this is solely to do with PT.

I don't care who you praise but it was you who wrote "I am a centrist too........ The undeniable fact is that the Coalition in Victoria has done jack, nada nothing and I and others have posted evidence of this and you choose to ignore this"

Then when someone points out that the Coalition actually did do something as opposed to nada you fob that off which makes you sound like a rusted on Labor voter.

I do agree 100% with your assertions that the fault lies with successive governments of BOTH persuasions. The fact that one has done a bit better or a bit worse than the other isn't really that important to me, the fact is that together they have failed to deliver the Public Transport and freight railways that Victoria (and Australia for that matter) needs.

Here and nationally the Libs don't have an impressive 'track' record. However their counterparts in Macquarie Street seem uncharacteristically supportive of public transport rail/light rail (with money not words).

Forget those historically loaded and bias categorisations right or left. You're either progressive or regressive. So is rail the future or the past?

In the past Rail was the future. In the present Rail is seen as the past. In the future I hope (and believe) that we will look back to the present and wonder why we ever thought Rail was the past!

I am a rusted on Labor voter eh. Rubbish. I told you I have reservations about Andrews and did not vote for him in the last election. A bit better or a bit worse, well if you want to compare employing PSO's at stations to the Melbourne Metro then be my guest. It is undeniable that the ALP has done much more than the Coalition and I just think it stinks that Jacinta Allan who is far from perfect as Transport Minister is copping it when funding was taken away by the last Government. Where the hell was the Federal Liberal Transport Minister when funding was removed. Sorry but I am standing what I have said. The Teeny tiny projects that the Coalition have initiated and complete pales into insignificance when compared to this Govt warts and all.

Probably in opposition - Labor were in power Federally until September 2013. The Coalition Government were in power in Victoria from Nov 2010 until Nov 2014. So for most of the time that funding was being removed Labor was in power federally. So perhaps your question should be Where the hell was the Federal Labor Transport Minister when funding was removed?

Still, never let the truth get in the way of a good story eh?

The former Napthine coalition government introduced Protective Security Officers (PSO's) on to Melbourne and some regional stations...that policy has been retained under the present Labor government and is very popular with rail travellers.
