I am booked on this (part way), but Steamrail had not bothered to tell passengers that the A2 will be solo (the original flyer said "assisted by another steam engine") or the train consist, so this is great news. 5 for 270 tons is about 100 ton under the full goods load for an A2 on the section Dandenong to Traralgon, so this will provide some good sound effects on the 1 in 50 grades, without (much) risk of stalling.

It wasn't a case of not bothering, but a case of a nice surprise after all the final tests deemed the A2 was ready for the solo venture.

If an R class was behind the A2, you wouldn't have heard the awesome sound of the A2 that we were lucky enough to hear in both directions.

Perhaps the Steamrail bods were busy enough, and the information wasn't vital anyway.
