Constant "Railpage is unavailable" outage pages

Hi,

In the last few days I have been getting quite a lot of errors saying that Railpage is unavailable supposedly due to high server load. This usually happens right when typing in the URL to the homepage or attempting to log in.

Is this just me?

Thanks

Front page in RP and railcams are failing at times due to server load which started to be an issue several days ago.  other parts of the site are not having issues.  Reported to Michael but who knows when it will be resolved.

CTRL-F5 should fix the issue.

It seemed to happen on the hottest days so I wondered if the server was feeling the heat as much as we were........

Same here.  I have a shortcut which starts Firefox and directs it to the Railpage URL.  When I run it, the Railpage login screen appears and I put in my details, but then nothing happens until eventually the "unavailable" box appears.  If I then click on the shortcut again, it takes me straight in and I am logged in.  (Running the "new" Firefox, 58.0.1 a.t.m.)

It doesn't "fix the issue". It will however get the user around the issue...

The only fix I find is to close the notice and come back laterrrrrrr.
Just did it to me as I tried to Log In but I went away and came back a few minutes later to be greeted by the message 'Hello Gordon' by the Log In which had happened during the hiccup.

I have been getting the same, or similar...

Front page loads with logon details.
I click logon and get 'Waiting for Railpage.com.au"
Waiting. Waiting. Page times out or RP unavailable.

The only work around that I have is...

1. load RP front page with logon details visible
2. go to browser tools / options and find cookies
3. use seach of cookies to find the individual "Railpage" cookies
(I think about 8 cookies)
4. remove the individual cookies.
5. logon.

Browser is Firefox on Win XP os (don't laugh !)

If you cannot get the home page up with logon details because of auto-logon, then clear the Railpage cookies first.

Correction: XP was the best until something far better and more secure came along...

Be aware that both Windows XP, and the last version of Firefox which will run under it, are outdated and insecure.  Have a look at this:

When I dont get the 'Unavailable' message, it seemingly 'goes walkabout' after I log in, sometimes that will trigger the not available message but if not, the little rotating indicator in the top left corner keeps spinning.
I give it minute or so and then click on the FORUMS option and most times find I am 'Logged In' which is nice and provided it feels like it, I can now browse through the Forums and comment if I wish to do so.

Some of these problems may be in my Computer and nothing to do with site so I wait before making any comments regarding these hiccups.

I've updated Chrome but I'm still having problems with being unable to use some functions (likes, editing, PM's). I'm guessing we will have to wait for David to update and fix?

I logged in by typing Railpage in the Chrome search bar, selected forums and then logged in OK. Railpage works on my I Phone 7.
