Would think it unlikely PN would store a rake or two in Bendigo yard for lines via Ballarat.  This would be for the Swanhill and Echuca Lines remembering PN lost the Kensington Business.  Are these lines still on hold for conversion?

Im noting elsewhere that a PN BG grain train has been sitting in Bendigo for the last couple of weeks.  Is this because PN doesnt have the work for the rake on these two lines (or elsewhere)?  How much is left on the lines to move - I would have thought that they would be looking to get all they can out given these lines are supposed to start going soon.  Given that Dunolly-Gheringhap is still very much BG I would assume that there is track capacity for it.

Also, can anyone update us on if there is any occupancies programmed on the line to start these works?

The only conversion talk about Echuca and Swan Hill has been the Gunzel foam variety.

And they have nothing to do with the subject matter in any case, so discuss it elsewhere if you must.

@Greensleeves, do you see more variation of loco types on BG or SG?

A quick look at the current Western Vic. bulk operations will show

SG:
     PN: 81's, BL/G's, the occasional T and X's
     QUBE: 830/48's, 80's, CM's, and VL's
     SSR: GM's, B61, RL302 and soon 442s5

BG:
     PN: BL/G's and XR's, plus the occasional appearance of H1/P20/T400 or the X's
     SSR: B75, S's and T's


And that's before you even consider what other operators may bring to the table- CFCLA have plenty of locos sitting idle at Goulburn (C's, EL's, GL's, CF's etc.) and who's to say GWA won't one day look to the Murray Basin and start running a couple of trains from there with CLF/CLP's, ALF's, 22's etc.

From an operators' side, it'd be a LOT easier to get rollingstock for SG operations than for BG. Just give CFCLA a call and get them in, they're right to go and you don't have to worry about gauge converting a heap of wagons and locos.

There is No need to Waste Money on things Not needed and with a loss of Victorian Pride to the People North of the River. The NSW gauge's effects are truly devastating as shown by the standardisation of the Northeast line, Half Arssed Murry Basin conversion attempt and the Standardisation of the Adelaide line and it's Tributaries.
