Oh my! To be released at Epping exhibition tomorrow. Details at https://www.facebook.com/Wombat-Models-230276970894062/ and https://wombatmodels.com.au/
Any idea whether this price will be offered to those unable to shop in person?Quote: All of these current 6 wheel tenders including the ones currently on the ship will be at $350.
website ordering is expected to be available any moment
So what discount is being offered?Sorry apw5910. I don't think that I should publicise the discount, as that really is the prerogative of Wombat Models, who have chosen not to do so. I can assure you that it is a quite impressive discount.
Cut to the chase - Is the funnel any good ?No it's not, I can't get any water to run through it!

So who's bought one?Neither of those models, best compared to the Ixion 32 Class as that basically what it is...well this time as a C30T
For us more distant prospective buyers, how does it rate - is at an SR 10 or an Austrains 36?
I will be getting one in time.So who's bought one?Neither of those models, best compared to the Ixion 32 Class as that basically what it is...well this time as a C30T

The tender is an Ixion 32 Class 6 wheeler, identical inside and out.
Loco is possibly a little heavier than the 32 and has a cab roof light as an extra.
Running characteristics similar the the 32.
It will basically suits those who are more interested in price.

If as has been said this is the Shrike 30T, except for the dumb funnel arrangements the model should pull very well, I checked the Shrike model out at Liverpool 2 years back and it had vg weight and that was very impressive as its all metal as against the Ixion 32 only having weight tubes in the boiler barrel.
The NSWGR 30T was a very versatile locomotive in many areas where it worked they hauled quite impressive loads for a small loco, the Superheated versions could haul the same as the 32 but official loads were less. They were the prime loco's to work many branch lines some in conjunction with the 32cl. They rode much better than the 32 as well.
Any Steam era NSW layout would find one of these a very pleasant model to have. The price is excellent and a fair amount cheaper than what was on offer from Shrike even at the EB price point.
Thing to remember is that the 30T did not haul loads that were of the same amount of the 32cl, while the superheated loco's could haul them, all the load tables showed the tank, saturated and superheated loco's sharing the same load and conditions, there would be areas that have a variation between the suburban tanks and the tender types.I will be getting one in time.So who's bought one?Neither of those models, best compared to the Ixion 32 Class as that basically what it is...well this time as a C30T

Weighing in at only 194 grams in total (Loco 151 + Tender 43) I would assume there is not too much metal in this model compared to the DJH C30T at 276 grams (Loco 198 + Tender 78) and the Austrains 30 Class Tank at 203 gram with no tender so I would say its pretty light.
Even the Ixion 32 loco weighed in at 209 grams in total (Loco 160 + Bogie Tender 59), slightly more than the new C30T
And while I was at it, the Trainorama 32 weighed in at a hefty 324 grams (Loco 242 + tender 82)
These are the weights of all 5 locos I have on my bench, as standard, so this is my own personal weight comparison.
Yes it is an an excellent price and that's why they will sell with this being the main reason why I have one.
Where can get a Australian steam loco these days for that price.
It is a decent looking loco which I'm sure there will be a few comparison complaints mentioned out there in time.
It pulled the carriages on the flat with no problems but did struggle when confronted with a grade.
I don't regret getting one and it will play it's part on my layout.
Prior to the Wombat release of the 30T locomotive, I received the first 1/2 of my C30 tank locomotive order (the no headlight models), contained within the parcel was a pre-order form for the Austrains 30TAt $770.00 as pre-delivery price, I would say that the model was waiting on a surf rescue team to bail it out. At the price that Wombat are asking for their model, its not likely the Austrains model would or could stay afloat.
I have just received the 2nd 1/2 of my Austrains C30 tank locomotive order (headlight version) post Wombat release and there was no Austrains 30T pre-order form......
I seem to recall (don't have the form in front of me) the pre-order prioce was to be $770.00 per loco.
Is the Austrains 30T project now dead, in the water?
For those who were there (I wasn't) what was the vibe at Rosehill on that front?

I would like to have a 30T but not paying over $700.00 for one.
