Once complete at Port headland heading to Tom Price for a night.
I have just booked a break driving from Broome, Port Headland and down the coast to Perth in the month Of January 2019. Planning on spending a full day and 2 nights around Port Headland therefore interested in some better locations to sample trains in the area.
Once complete at Port headland heading to Tom Price for a night.
Thanks Peter.I guess you and YM posted at the same time...
Do you think it might be possible to get a tour of the ore unloading processes?
As already posted, you can tour Nelson Point (BHP).

Well guys, arrived into Port headland this afternoon and noticed on the way in from Broome the rail crossing 60 kms north of Port Headland on the National 1 road had signs stating the cross was not in use but the rails looked well used.
Long Drive so we take a good look around tomorrow.
Back in Melbourne for around 1 week and have been looking over the observations from the trip.As far as I know there is no through traffic from Perth to Geraldton of any kind.
Over the next period I will share observations starting with:
1. There are a hell of a lot of trucks on the roads between Perth and Geraldton and many many on the road north of there. What intermodal routes are being used on the WA NG network? Are intermodal rail services available from Perth into Geraldton?
2. The number of ore trucks running on the Great Northern Highway between Port Headland and almost to Mulga Downs is frightening. 140 km.h required to pass if you can and many are doing over 100 km/h on that single lane highway. Truck numbers were in the 100's for the few hours it took to drive from Port Headland to Auski Roadhouse.
Regards
Brian
