    Well, the first BG grainy of the new season seems as good a reason as any to get started!

    Its unlikely to be a good season particularly in NE Vic, Goulburn Valley and south Eastern NSW due to the VERY poor rainfall. Most farmers I have talked to have competely given up on seeing any grain at all.

    Prince Charles has sent an open letter to all grain growers in Aus expressing his great sorry on this years poor grain harvest.

    Be interesting to see the frequency and if there are follow up grain trains after this first one. I wonder if they'll be shipping anything from Melbourne or Geelong up to Sydney/ Brisbane?

    First time through Bendigo since Sept 6 (was an Elmore loading).  No PN grainys thru Bendigo since August 20 (Mitiamo).

    It'll be very interesting to see whether Graincorp prefer train or truck this coming (lean) harvest.  High diesel fuel prices might favour the former.

    On tour, again, back to Western Vic, while cruising through Nhill mid afternoon, a grain consist was reversing back to the silo's in town, looked like grain wagon's from NSW.

    Also at GrainFlow, Dimmy another reasonable sized consist, in the loading loop and still there yesterday arvo, had a peek on YouTube, nothing from Greensleeves or Graeme, any clues.

    There was a loading at Rainbow over the weekend, could have been that. I don’t know any more, sorry.

    SSR BG ran to Tocumal Tuesday night/Wednesday.

    Returned then straight back out to Woorinen/ Piangil last night.


    No PN BG grains since the Sea Lake grain nearly two weeks back.

    Why was it booked out in the first place? Condition of the track?
    There is still grain up that way and some will still roll in over the harvest period.

    Ok crew, got the message friday afternoon, Dimboola GrainFlow will be open for recievals from Monday 10.00am till 5.00pm, so harvest is under way in the Wimmera.

    I would assume GrainCorp sites will be operating, as well as various other companies.

    So we will see what sort of quality / quantity is on the menu, this year, as has been said, the West Wimmera probably has done the best in the region, again and east and north of Horsham, RS !

    A quick perusal of GrainCorp's web site, show's, Charlton, Birchip, and Sea Lake operating with various grain segregation's available.

    Im actually Australian who happens to live in Sydney - after a few years overseas i feel very much at home in most places in Australia.  And to me the states are quite irrelevant and we should be removing them as a government layer, so I dont think of myself as a NSWman!! Smile.

    Re sites, a few are starting to open, mainly the bigger ones.  Canola harvest is underway in the northern area of my region (though huge amounts were baled for hay).  The last crops in the Wallendbeen-Harden area were windowed on Wednesday so they should be being harvested next weekend, and so sites in the SW Slopes/Riverina open.  Id have to check the operators websites to know exactly which ones tho.

    Who makes this stuff up?

    The SSR grainy has been sitting at Kensington all weekend.

    Departs just after midnight tonight and will load at Deniliquin tomorrow (Monday) and again on Wednesday, then at Manangatang on Friday.

    (It last loaded at Manangatang on Monday 12/11)

    Is Deniliquin via Toolamba?

    Will Kensington still operate after the Murray Basin project is complete, ie are Deniliquin and Tocumwal enough?

    PS: thanks for answering my other question before I’d asked it; is Kensington still operating? I’d been passed a couple of times recently but there didn’t seem to be any signs of activity.
