Thank god that CLP10 and its sisters have been saved from that boat ride to Mozambique which was going to happen any day!

Gunzels rejoice! Get the SSR standard white slap on decals printed already!

This is excellent news.

It was probably commercially sensitive information before Bernie 'King of the Gunzels' Baker got hold of it...

Bernie is indeed our supreme leader. Makes me wonder how much influence he has on the SSR management.

So they bought 5 locos to get 1 or 2 that they can actually use?

I'm not sure you are getting the hint of sarcasm in last few posts.

And just maybe it had already been posted on FB 24hrs earlier by someone higher up the chain. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Success at SSR seemingly isn’t measured in engineering innovation announcements at Ausrail or record breaking tonnes hauled. Success is instead measured in Motive Power cover pages, the upper echelons of management being able to proudly announce the purchase of more photogenic heritage gear for a pittance and using your everyone has one Live Run email feed to filter out train running info to gunzels on Facebook for that special holier than thou feeling.

I look forward to following the Cootamundra and LRW backyard railroad reactivation of the CL's and then the subsequent phone videos taken from the drivers seat at 80km/h with the horn blowing an AAR regulation whistle code in the middle of Orange at 2am.

C'mon, surely you've felt like waking everyone else up at 2am as well, because, well, if I'm awake, why shouldn't everyone else be too? Twisted Evil

Well No surprises, some Gunzel on Facebook asked a driver if a 600 could lead the recent grain train...

WTF are you talking about?

602 is leading today because that's the way the crew chose to marshall the locos.

This thread is turning very nasty, very quickly.

Shock horror, enthusiast SSR train crew marshalled sub-par pre-historic locomotive to the lead in contrast to generally accepted industry and train handling standards.

No doubt a quick check of the usuals Facebook pages will reveal hundreds of photos and videos from the cab as it splutters away around the countryside.

What's wrong with 602, leads in NSW all the time, rides better than the 442s that re-marshalled off the front.

Non gunzel crew on board. I'll make sure to let them know you chose to disparage them on a public forum.

I don't think there's an issue if the roster for a train has shytehouse loco allocation, but it sounds like someone put the 600 on point where there was a better-equipped loco in the consist. This goes against the accepted convention, whereby the most comfortable serviceable loco from a crew perspective is marshalled up the front unless there's a damn good reason for not doing so.

The decision was okayed by several people before it happened too.
