You really don’t have an idea of what’s happened here do you? No one is blaming the person who lied for the outbreak, but we (me, most I’d SA, the Premier and SA Health are blaming him for the LOCKDOWN RESPONSE. Why? Because instead of merely having to trace contacts that occur over time, this person alleged that they could have only obtained the virus through contact of a pizza/pizza box. Now we have to trace every person that not only came in contact with the shop, but every person who had contact with the pizzas/pizza boxes, that’s hundreds of orders, maybe a thousand people per day.

Had it been revealed that this was transferred during work, then it would be ONE business shut, a deep clean and a COVID test for the employees and their families.

You can't fault the SA response but you can fault the the hotel quantine system itself and the way it operates, employing a casualised workforce probably foreign workers on temporary visas probably under trained not tested enough (your only as good as your last test) this could/will happen again quite easily tomorrow next week next month on Thursday for all we know

You do know that we have had professional, full time, or at least permanently employed, Australian tertiary educated, highly trained doctors and nurses with full PPE still contacting the virus at work don’t you? More than once actually, so on that basis, as much as I am not a huge fan of hotel quarantine (for the record, I would more extensively test and isolate people BEFORE they are even allowed to depart for Australia, more likely ensuring they’re arriving ‘clean’) it would seem that hotel quarantine is better at isolating the virus than our hospitals, doctors and nurses - let’s not forget that a decent number of hospital cleaners are likely employed under near same terms as hotel cleaning staff.

Pay them properly, some need two or more jobs to make ends meet pathetic in this day and age, having a casualised workforce as the front line covid 19 response seems to me a lesson NOT learned

I think that’s an unusually broad description of the ADF’s role, you might also say that of AQIS, Customs and the AFP.

I don’t think the situation in Adelaide would be much different irrespective of who was doing the work.

The only error I can see from Marshall was that he went too hard on the 'throwing the book' talk in his press conference, which could prove to be unhelpful for encouraging people to cooperate with the contact tracing system in the future.

Overall though, I'd give him a very high grade for his performance over the week - all other factors are outweighed by his courageous decision to go with the advice of the professionals and wait until after the height of the event to get political.

I thought it was amusing that Daniel Andrews was offering assistance to SA with the contract tracing on the same day that the Chief Scientist told the inquiry in Melbourne that Victoria's system doesn't work yet.

Again I did indicate that SA health was on top of this and doing a good job

Except that employment of part time casual workers whom need to have a second job to make ends meet if they were employed full time at one work place and an out break occurred this would be much easier as you said to contact trace and avoid people feeling the need to lie

In a nutshell casualised work is under employment and is a employers paradise

The quarantine workers many need to be required to "live on site" at the facility and be deployed for like 6 week stints followed by some type of self quarantine.

As today is Thanksgiving Day in the US medical authorities are dreading the outcome as it is a traditional time for family get togethers and an ideal time COVID-19 super spreaders to do their worst. The information was wrong as it turned out, due to a person lying through his teeth. Had it been correct, and no immediate action taken, imagine the outcry if the disease had got away again.
Yet, out of the woodwork came the know-alls with immediate condemnation. A few of them need a good dose of COVID-19 to really make them realise how serious it is.

Pensioners and the self-funded retired also aren't affected by it but people trying to start out in life and get mortgages and more secure employment have been severely disrupted, as has the very mechanism by which our society functions - the taxation of production and labour.

You seriously think we can keep doing this ad infinitum then you're delusional - we've got to come up with another way of managing it because another 12 months of this will destroy whatever private sector activity is still left in this country.
