This is just another idealist reaction from the Dan Andrews Politburo. Come down heavy on the people who criticize you. Turn a blind eye to the ethnic group who might vote for you in the next election.

The true believers are well and truly being hoodwinked by this would be Dictator.

Still writing ideological rubbish, I see. The approach they used got the answers - there's an old saying, "Gently, gently, catchee monkey." The only consideration was to control this outbreak, and that's what's happening.  You, on the other hand, would punish them with the result that you'd get no information at all (unless, of course you used the old rubber hose treatment or did some waterboarding) - brilliant strategy, sir.

That's why small business / sole traders are getting screwed over by Andrews restrictions (they are least likely to vote for him)

Waah wah waah , Sack Andrews, call the GG to sack him, bring in Kojak to sack him!, that's what most of the MSM is on about these days (Except the Kojak bit), looking at this from a NSW Perspective, also, as many people have pointed out on here, mistakes have been made by his Govt yes, but he has been there day in and day out at these daily pressers, facing the tough questions, a few baited ones as well thrown in, I don't think that seriously he will be sacked/ nor will he resign, I am reading that he still has strong support as well down there.

Can we please get over this ridiculous notion that Andrews is screwing over people or businesses. There's a bloody pandemic happening - the biggest one that any living person has seen. His job is to try and stop it, or get it down to manageable proportions. Before anyone starts harping again, yes; there were mistakes, but we are now getting on top of it.
In doing so, there are casualties which nobody likes, but has anyone looked at London recently? Boris has had to reimpose stricter restrictions because the virus got away again. I don't want that happening here.

Finally, does anyone with half a brain seriously believe this twaddle about Andrews wanting to be a Dictator? No democratically elected politician is that stupid. He, and everybody else, knows that he can be turfed out at the next election, and anyone who believes that this wouldn't worry him is off with the pixies. As for the conspiracy theorists they are, as the Assistant Police Commissioner neatly put it, "batsh1t crazy".

You don't have to like Andrews, but at least give him credit for what he's doing. He's appearing every day, giving updates. He's doing well by completely ignoring a bloody-minded opposition which has offered not one scrap of bipartisan support to help cope with this disaster, but continually snipes at him, culminating in a completely stupid motion of no confidence in Parliament last week.

The critics are always there, and invariably all are experts after the event. They belong to a group called "He Should Of"; that most famous hindsight organisation.

I wouldn't be surprised if he called it a day before the next election though, either through being nudged or from sheer exhaustion.

That's at the core of the issue for you though isn't it Valvegear. You're not 20 or 30 and starting out in life so having business shut down or losing your job doesn't affect you anyway.

A bit of honesty would be nice.

He might and probably will Mr Lane he will start the economic recovery then we will see "he's not for turning"
  doyle Assistant Commissioner

The issue seems to be that people don't appreciate or don't understand that the country is going for suppression and eliminationClearly you don't open up when that appears to be the strategy (unofficial)
  doyle Assistant Commissioner

Why is it that the right have this need too hang draw and quarter anyone from the left for any mistake or misstep but the moment the right eff things up it is the left that is at fault and then blatant lying soon follows even seven odd years later (federal) the libs conquer and divide our nation always have always will
Totally off topic
The rum corps is still the basis for our police forces they are a gang with patches as well, fancy leaving them to deal with people with mental health problems, we have witnessed how difficult it is for the police to deal with this issue..
travelling mental health teams from all hospitals state wide need to be implemented that can be immediately dispatched and should include a driver whom ideally should be a nurse a paramedic and a trained police officer

Spellin and punctuation may be corrected.. or not cause I don't give a  s h I t  as long as you know what I'm sayin so get over it

Frankston Hospital To Deliver Better Care And Local Jobs
The Victorian Government is getting on with the massive $562 million expansion of the Frankston Hospital – to provide world-class healthcare for local families and create hundreds of jobs in Melbourne’s south-east.

And this

Extra Upgrades For Victoria’s Public Aged Care Facilities
The Victorian Government is upgrading more than 50 public sector residential aged care services, delivering hundreds of new jobs and ensuring thousands of older Victorians continue to get the care and comfort they deserve.

Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Luke Donnellan today announced $30 million in funding to improve Victoria’s public sector residential aged care services, home to some of our most vulnerable older Victorians.

The package will deliver $20 million to upgrade 33 facilities that collectively operate 1,787 aged care beds – including 267 beds that are dedicated to supporting the mental health of older Victorians.

This includes $15 million shared by 17 metropolitan facilities to upgrade buildings, replace infrastructure and improve accessibility for residents and staff.

Another $5 million will see 16 regional facilities also undertake important upgrades, including installing new flooring, refurbishing communal living areas and replacing equipment.

Melton residents also should benefit from a new hospital at cobblebank soonish mentioned by Steve bracks several days ago

It's a start

Quite so. I have read countless criticisms of Michael O'Brien for his politically opportunistic sniping, and cannot remember one item actually supporting him. If the Libs aren't taking notice of this, they need their collective backsides kicked until their noses bleed. To win the next State election, they need all the help they can get, and the current policy of political lunacy is about as stupid as it could be.

I don't think you see the big picture with all due respect Don, if you get a massive outbreak of this virus somewhere, it not only affects the young and healthy, the young and healthy transmit it, unknowingly, to older people, this can cause mass hospitalizations, this is why some Govts are doing what they are doing around the world.

Yep A Coalition Government with O'Brien, Hodgetts, Davis and Tim Smith is just too horrible to contemplate. Get some moderates in leadership roles and they may stand a chance (in 2026).

So, despite his flaws and there are quite a few, carry on Mr. Andrews.

Eh...we haven't even hit the bottom of this rescission yet, not even close...there is going to be months and months of pain ahead.

The Stage 4 extension has been the nail in the coffin of many local small businesses around where I live: many For Lease signs are now popping up on commercial real-estate and I am starting to hear of redundancies in some of the industries my friends and I am involved with.

Most importantly, JobKeeper hasn't been withdrawn yet and the loan holidays are still in effect. They they wind up, we could be in a world of hurt.

I think the risk of a depression has passed but we are in for a long and deep recession with a slow recovery. It is just beginning, the worst is yet to come and it is going to be nasty.

They UK has far, far, far more cases and their lockdown is nowhere near comparable to what we are doing here...they still even have restaurants and pubs open.

Lockdowns in Europe are geared towards keeping the health systems from collapsing, not eliminating the virus, so they are not comparable.

No one is going so hard for so few cases as Melbourne. The only reason I think we are doing this now is to get into line with the other Australian states so they are willing to reopen borders. There isn't much of a health justification for doing what we are doing.

Daniel Andrew isn't the only one being labelled a "dictator", except this time it's the conservatives name calling Boris Johnson.
