    Could be the main internal steam pipe. Could also be a superheater element.

    Photo of boiler tube, not sure if the ones next to it came from 3830, the engine is no longer in the roundhouse but undercover at the back of the main train hall.

    Edit: Seen clearly even though the photo (Nokia phone) is rather small, are pits and rust at the near end. The fact that the engine is now in the main train hall may suggest that the overhaul may take some time.
