People don’t like taking coaches. Build the line and they will comeHasn't happened with the Ballarat - Maryborough rail service !Still not much more than an empty car movement.
Maryborough - Ballarat is growing, however slowly.A good comparitor, Echuca - Bendigo is very popular so it's difficult to work out the reasons why, except perhaps that Echuca's population is around 5,000 more than Maryborough.
Mike.Oh dear, you've pressed the Vinelander button!
As you're always reminding us Mike, state borders don't affect how people travel, so if we consider Echuca/Moama as a single settlement - which it is - that's 20,000, a population base nearly three times greater than Maryborough.
Nevertheless, I'm sure the Clunes suburban service will have a drastic impact on patronage there.
Actually Clunes is very busy sometimes.
Last year when I went to Talbot for the day...as one does on the Booktown weekend, I counted at least 50 pax that joined my special train at Clunes.
