50 class 80 locomotives were built for the New South Wales Public Transport Commission between 1978 and 1983 by Commonwealth engineering (Comeng) in Granville NSW - powered by Alco 12-251CE generators.
Probably considered one of the less successful designs to have operated on Australian rails, over half have already been scrapped and only around a dozen remain in service on secondary duties.
Taken at Lithgow loco depot on 5 October 1994.
