X47, X52 and 8050 stand alongside the platform at Bungendore in pouring rain with 2126 empty fuel train from Canberra to Clyde. The second person can be seen collecting the miniature electric train staff for the section between Bungendore and Tarago, having fulfilled his ticket (Bungendore to Queanbeyan was Ordinary Train Staff and Ticket at the time).
Traditionally rostered as a two-locomotive consist, on this particular evening X47 was on trial following reactivation. X52 was online but not powering, and 8050 was dead attached as insurance. X47 performed rather poorly on the climb out of Queanbeyan in the wet conditions, and the crew remarked that they would use the safeworking stop to bring 8050 and X52 online to ensure that they were not too late arriving back into Sydney. X47 is one of only two class members to be modified for Driver Only Operation (hence the XR Class style windscreens).
