Back in the mid-seventies we visited the Megalong Valley in the Blue Mountains with some very good friends*, to our surprise we found a couple of locomotives slitting beside the road. I found the picture I took to record the occasion again today when I was in 'the vault'.
To this day I have never been able to find out why they were there! No railway ever ran through the Valley, nor was their a museum nearby. We could only imagine a tourist railway of some sort, but none eventuated. Now with the wondrous powers of the internet I may find an answer.
Can anyone help? Why were these locomotives in the Megalong Valley in 1974?
* Both gentlemen in the picture were groomsmen at our wedding! We still see each other regularly - they'd like to know as well!
