In 1980 the State Transport Authority of South Australia introduced a unique fleet of twelve 2000 class powercars and eighteen 2100 class trailer cars on local commuter services in Adelaide.
They last ran in service in August 2015 and have been stored since then. From 1 June 2016 scrapping of all but five cars retained for community use commenced.
