It's 0735hrs on Sunday morning 23 October 1994 as Australian National broad gauge (5'3"
locos BL29/844/701/BL32 head train no. 1AM0 bound for Melbourne upgrade out of Shepherds Hill Road tunnel in the Adelaide foothills.
Earthworks have started in preparation for the installation of a broad gauge crossing loop at this location for suburban rail car movements.
In May 1995 the 'up' track to the left of the train would become a bi-directional standard gauge line for interstate and regional services, while the suburban network remained broad gauge..
