The Bracks Government's planning blueprint, Melbourne 2030, is at risk of collapse without big improvements in public transport, an advisory committee to the Government has warned.
The committee says key groups, including developers and the building industry, "do not have confidence that the transport elements of Melbourne 2030 will be adequately delivered or addressed".
Its report card on the progress of 2030 says public transport is the "weakest component" of the strategy and "this has not yet been addressed".
The Government appointed the Melbourne 2030 Implementation Reference Group - which is made up of 17 diverse groups including the Property Council, the Housing Industry Association and the RACV - to advise it on implementing the strategy.
