High-speed Channel Tunnel train company Eurostar celebrated its 10th birthday by announcing record passenger levels. Eurostar carried 641,957 passengers in October - a record figure for the month.
In the first 10 months of this year, 6,046,455 million passengers have travelled on Eurostar - up 16.2% on the same period last year. Punctuality in the first 10 months of 2004 up 13% on the same period last year, at was 89.2%. Eurostar were due to hold an anniversary party but cancelled celebrations out of respect for the victims of the Berkshire rail crash.
