The NSW rail system has been criticised for a $670-million line maintenance backlog and a rapid deterioration in trains running on time.
The latest NSW Auditor-General report, released today, shows concerns in the key sectors of health, energy, roads, rail and education. In particular, Auditor-General Bob Sendt said the Rail Infrastructure Corp (RIC) has advised a maintenance backlog of at least $596 million for country lines as of June 30.
