A teenage schoolgirl was killed when she was hit by a train at a level crossing in suburban Melbourne this morning.
The 16-year-old was among a group of students crossing tracks at the Bentleigh railway station in south-eastern Melbourne about 8.45am (AEDT).
Lea Jaensch, a spokeswoman for train company Connex, said the girl died instantly when she was struck by the six-carriage citybound train at the Centre Road pedestrian crossing.
