The NSW government today bowed to public and union pressure and announced a fare-free day on Sydney's train network on Monday.
The decision came as momentum gathered for a grassroots protest against the embattled CityRail network, spearheaded by frustrated rail commuter Rebecca Turner. Fed up with late and cancelled services and trains which skip stations without notice, Ms Turner appealed to her fellow users to travel without a ticket on November 22.
