With free train travel today in Sydney, fixing the "atrocious" rail system would help revive the popularity of the State Government, says the Premier, Bob Carr.
Today has been declared a free travel day on the city's trains, with CityRail ordered not to charge commuters who travel on trains, or to fine travellers without tickets, after Mr Carr caved in on Friday to public pressure and agreed to a fare-free day organised by Rebecca Turner, 24, a legal secretary.
