Inland rail a trifecta for Toowoomba region: mayor
The findings of a New South Wales parliamentary report into rail cuts on the NSW north coast will be released today.
An inquiry into the closure of the Casino to Murwillumbah line has been under way since May when the State Government shut down the service.
The chairwoman of the Upper House inquiry, Jenny Gardiner, says the line was closed without proper planning for the future transport needs of the region.
Ms Gardiner says the reports calls for the service to be put back on the tracks.
"We found the whole thing completely unsatisfactory and we believe that the State Government should now face up to the fact that they've done the wrong thing, wasted money in doing it and they should introduce a commuter service on that line," she said.
