Railway management company VicTrack is calling for tenders to install wireless networks at stations across the state, allowing a traveller's laptop or PDA to connect to the internet.
Initially the program will allow full internet access, e-mail and news services from the station platform with minimal mail and news services available while in the train.
If the trial goes well it will be rolled out from country stations into the city. Tender applications close on December 8th.
