UK: As part of the Railway Gazette Group’s continued commitment to the UK railway sector, DVV Media UK Ltd has acquired Rail Business Awards Ltd with effect from July 1.
Developed and managed for the past 18 years by Woodhouse Communications, the Rail Business Awards recognise the very best of the UK rail industry, with strong support among both train operators and the supply sector. Railway Gazette International and Rail Business Intelligence have been closely involved with the awards as media partners and hosts for the past three years.
Publisher Sheena Rennie said ‘we are grateful to Woodhouse Communications who have built a strong brand of reward and recognition for the industry. Partners Paul and Kim Lawson have dedicated a lifetime to the rail industry and we hope to build on their work as the event develops in the years to come. Our fortnightly newsletter Rail Business Intelligence is widely acknowledged as essential reading for senior executives in the UK rail sector, and the clear synergies with the Rail Business Awards will help us to strengthen our presence in this market.’
Paul Lawson said ‘as owner of the awards, I have been delighted to see it grow into a well-established part of the rail industry’s calendar. RBA’s success is not due to one individual; it has been down to everyone involved, from the event organisers and administrators at Woodhouse to the judges, sponsors and guests. However, time moves on and we feel RBA could do with a fresh pair of eyes. I am pleased that we are handing the baton over to DVV Media. With extra resources and wide-ranging contacts DVV will make certain the Rail Business Awards goes from strength to strength.
Having been involved in all aspects of the awards at Woodhouse Communications for almost 10 years, Simon King is joining DVV Media UK Ltd as Events Manager. He will continue to manage the Rail Business Awards as part of Railway Gazette’s expanding events programme, which includes the European Rail Summit and the RG:TV interactive web debates.
