Closure of Newcastle rail stations not technically a closure of whole line, State Government lawyer says
Three boys have been caught allegedly placing rocks on train lines at Warnervale on the Central Coast.
Motion-activated cameras captured the trio placing the rocks on tracks close to the Sparks Road overpass.
A train struck the rocks but was undamaged.
Police have arrested one boy aged nine, and two others aged 12.
It follows a series of incidents earlier this year in which large rocks were placed on the rail lines between Warnervale and Wyee stations.
They were struck by both freight and passenger trains, causing substantial damage to one passenger train that had to be taken out of service.
