Public Transport Victoria (PTV) have allocated funds to install floor markings on all C and D-Class trams, to clearly identify two priority areas for customers who use mobility aids.
It is a requirement in the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport (DSAPT) that every accessible vehicle has two designated priority areas.
The first C-Class tram was fitted on Thursday 18 June, with all other low-floor trams to be fitted over the next few weeks.

Yarra Trams is excited to announce that familiarisation programs for customers that use mobility aids will begin in late July. The program will run from Preston Workshops (corner of St Georges Road and Miller Street in Preston) where an accessible test platform has been constructed. Accessible toilet facilities will also be available at this location.
The familiarisation sessions will give customers a chance to practise boarding and alighting from low-floor trams, as well as familiarising themselves with the layout of the tram, the location of priority areas and the location of stop request buttons.
Similar programs are available at seven of our eight tram depots for customers who are able to step up a minimum of 290mm.
